Parent Letter February 2,2012

Dear Parents,                                                               Thursday, February 2, 2012

Courage will be the character virtue we emphasize during the month of February. The class was “courageous” and did a great job singing their January song in front of the entire school during our last Monthly Celebration!  Great Job!

CLASSROOM NOTES:

Class Supplies:  It is mid-year and we are in need of some class supplies.  We could use: plastic spoons, Kleenex, disinfectant wipes, paper towel, pencils, glue sticks, healthy kidsJ.  I don’t know where it all goes either but we are running low on these items.

Book Orders:  New book orders were sent home today.  Please have your order in by February 16, 2012.  I have selected more catalogs online and only sent home a couple.

I handed out coupons yesterday to everyone who turned their form in.  February forms went home yesterday.  This includes the “Monthly Minutes Calendar” and “A Super Reader’s Book Review”.  Make sure you have both forms at home and are completing them. Your child’s goal should be at least 400 minutes each month.  That is 20 minutes 5 nights a week. Please take this opportunity to have your child read to you, you read to them and discuss what has been read.  February forms are due by March 1.  If you finish the forms early, please hand in.

Computer Help:  I am in need of a parent volunteer to come in every Wednesday from about 2:00-3:30 to help with computers.  Please let me know if you are able to volunteer.

All topics must be submitted by Thursday, February 9th.  It is important to have a variety of collections on display so the sooner you submit your topic to me the better.  I may ask you to choose a new topic if there are already a couple of students with your topic.  Projects are not to be brought in until Monday, April 9th after school and may be taken home Thursday, April 12th.  Projects from last year may not be resubmitted!  Judges will award a ribbon for Best of Show and Honorable Mention.  I will also grade the projects but this is separate from the judges.

Chinese New Year Celebration:  Our class will participate in a Chinese New Year Celebration, tomorrow, on the afternoon of February 3rd.  Lian Brown’s mom has graciously offered to organize a fun filled afternoon for the class.  There is a sign up sheet in the back for volunteers to help run the various stations.  Please sign up if you are able to help out. I still need 2 parents to help!

Valentine’s Day: The class will celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th with a little party in the afternoon.  Students will exchange valentines at that time and I have attached a class list to assist with names.
